Planned Parenthood Gets Caught Protecting Child Molesters

Introduction

State laws in all 50 states of the United States require that certain professionals (including doctors, nurses, counselors, teachers, and others) report suspected cases of child abuse. This abuse includes sexual abuse, which is defined as occurring between a minor (defined differently in some states, ranging from age 17 to 14) and an adult (usually defined as being 18 years or older). With these definitions in mind, a prolife group, Life Dynamics, ran a "sting" operation to determined how abortion clinics would comply with the mandatory reporting laws of their states.

"I'm going to be 14 later on this month"

Personnel from Life Dynamics, based out of Texas, where secret recording of telephone conversations is legal, called 800 abortion clinics around the nation using the following scenario. The caller claiming to be a 13-year old girl who was pregnant by her 22-year old "boyfriend" asked the clinics if they did abortions. The information the girl gave indicated obvious evidence of child abuse, since the caller was a minor and the "boyfriend" was an adult. However, in over 90% of the calls, abortion clinics around the country counseled the girl not to mention the "boyfriend's" age or bring him to the abortion clinic. Here is the content of some of the calls:

    Girl: "It's just we don't want a whole lot of people to know about us. Would he have to sign anything?"
    Planned Parenthood: "yeah, but I just...don't, don't talk about his age."

    Planned Parenthood: "When you go to Norwich, you're going to want to give them a call. Don't tell them that information."
    Girl: "then it will be okay?"
    Planned Parenthood: "If you do not say the age of your partner."
    Girl: "okay."
    Planned Parenthood: "Okay, otherwise there's going to be a lot of stuff going on that you're probably not going to want to have happen." 

    Girl: "They won't ask anything about him?"
    Planned Parenthood: "I’m not going to...I’m going to pretend I didn't hear that, okay?"
    Girl: "okay."
    Planned Parenthood: "don't even bring that up, okay."
    Girl: "even if he's taking me there?"
    Planned Parenthood: "no, no, don't even go there, don't even bring it up."

Planned Parenthood's reaction

Planned Parenthood refused to be interviewed on camera by a Connecticut television station, Fox 61 WTIC TV, but issued a short statement, essentially claiming that Life Dynamics had "staged" the tapes:

"Planned Parenthood questions the reliability of staged tapes of supposed telephone conversations surreptitiously prepared by life dynamics, an organization with a notorious anti-planned parenthood agenda."

However, Fox 61 WTIC TV called the abortion clinics in question to determine the validity of the tapes. Here is what they found:

"We wanted to be sure of their authenticity, too. So we made some calls to Connecticut Planned Parenthood centers and we asked for the names we heard. Some were not overly common names, like Heidi and Glenda. We found they indeed worked there. Also, the tones placing the calls on the tape match the Planned Parenthood phone numbers."

Although many of the abortion clinics were aware of the mandatory reporting law, they counseled a minor girl to lie to conceal sexual abuse and the identity of the abuser. Fewer than 10% of the abortion clinics that were called attempted to get the name of the girl and her abuser to report the crime, as required by state law. These telephone conversations showed that Planned Parenthood is more concerned about their abortion agenda then complying with the law and getting child abusers put in jail.
