People often promote the idea of world peace and unity of all peoples. In principle, this would seem like a good idea. However, pride and greed for power usually leads to the oppression of people by those in power. The great empires of Media-Persia, Greece, and Rome stand out as primary examples of this principle. More modern examples include Germany, Japan, and the Soviet Union. God's command to fill the earth was given at least partially in response to man's propensity for oppressing his neighbors.
