News

This is a somewhat abbreviated newsletter, since I have had many distractions within the last two months. First, I broke a rib roller blading (going too fast downhill). However, it gave me about 5 hours in the ER to read the book reviewed below. Second, the website has been under attack by Russians for the last two months. They caused so much stress on my hosting company's server that they kicked me off. So, the website was offline for a few days while I had to find a new host. The new host seems to be more restrictive, which is good for security, but bad for my scripts. Virtually everything broke and all the file names and links had to be changed for the site (and the other 10 sites I host). Things should be running fine now, but if you see anything unusual on the site, please let me know. The third problem is that my laptop (which I use on my commute) is on its last legs with hardware booting problems. Your prayers would be appreciated.

Book Review

Why Christians Will Suffer "Great Tribulation"

This is Joe Ortiz's sequel to His book, The End Times Passover, which will be reviewed separately on this site. Many Bible teachers are claiming that end times Christians will escape tribulation and be raptured prior to tribulation events (often referred to as "pre-tribulation rapture" or "pre-trib rapture"). Why Christians Will Suffer "Great Tribulation" is an excellent rebuttal to this prevalent pre-tribulation rapture teaching. The text is written in an easy to read style, yet cites the relevant scriptures to back up its interpretations. The book has changed the way I look at some end times events, and has clarified my picture of the end times. It is highly recommended reading for those interested in end times interpretations. Answers for Atheists

Debunking Dawkins

In chapter 2, Richard Dawkins makes numerous assertions, nearly all of which he fails to support with either logic or data. Examples include the numerous names he gives to God, the claim that Paul founded Christianity, the claim that Christianity is the bloodiest religion ever, the claim that there are few strong atheists, and the claim that the founding fathers would be rolling over in their graves because religious people hold political office in the United States - all of which are shown to be false. As in chapter 1, Dawkins is caught quoting out-of-context, when the original intent of the author was exactly opposite of what he reported. More...

Did Paul Invent Christianity?

In his book, The God Delusion, Richard Dawkins claimed that Paul of Tarsus (the apostle Paul) hijacked the early Christian religion, changing the theology from what Jesus originally taught. Skeptics support their claim by pointing to the doctrines found in Paul's great theological work, his letter to the Romans. Without a doubt, the book of Romans contains the most complete exposition of orthodox Christian doctrines. Are these doctrines contrary to what Jesus taught? Do they conflict with the teachings of the Old Testament from which they were purportedly derived? More...

Religion vs. IQ

I came across a website that claimed that religious people have a lower IQ than those who who aren't religious. Many skeptics think that Christianity and other religions are for people who do not want to think - but will blindly follow what they are told by their church. While it is true that those who have advanced degrees tend to be more atheistic than those who don't, does this correlate with intelligence or just self-sufficiency? A look at the data shows that other factors (such as GDP) are also negatively correlated with IQ. What is the real cause of lower IQ in some countries?

Watchmaker Argument Revisted

William Paley, in his classic work, Natural Theology: or, Evidences of the Existence and Attributes of the Deity, argued that living beings resembled watches (as opposed to stones) and so, were probably designed. Skeptics claim that David Hume in his work, Dialogues Concerning Natural Religion, destroyed Paley's watchmaker argument. This page examines Hume's arguments, which seem really laughable according to today's science. More...

Those are the most recent updates and changes since the last e-mail update. If you would like to see anything in particular at Evidence for God from Science, let me know. But a natural man does not accept the things of the Spirit of God, for they are foolishness to him; and he cannot understand them, because they are spiritually appraised. (1 Corinthians 2:14)
